I finally have a moment to write a couple things about our trip to California! We decided to leave around 2:30 in the morning hoping the kids would sleep the first half. They both were awake for the first hour and then finally fell a sleep, but only for two hours. Azelynn was then awake for the rest of the trip and Ryder, took a couple 30 min naps. Overall they did excellent I could not have asked for a better drive. I was worried about Ryder he would always start to cry if we were ever in the car over 45 minutes and he was fantastic! We pulled up to my mom's house 12 hours later with only two stops!
I was really hoping for some nice California weather that my mom always brags about but it pretty much rained the first 4 days, but we managed to have fun anyway. Since it was raining we decided to stay in our first night. My mom, sister, and nieces came over to the condo where we were staying and we stayed up late eating pizza and playing games. The next day Darren stayed in finishing up his last exam and I went out with my my mom and sister to visit some of the surrounding mining towns. Saturday night we went to David and Jocelyn's wedding reception about hour and from where we were staying. (the reason we decied to come to California) Darren got car sick on the way there and spent the first two hours in the car trying to get over it. Luckly he started to feel a little better and was able to attend the last 30 minutes. We then drove the hour longer, straighter route back to our condo. Sunday we went to church with my mom and then spent the rest of the day at Big Trees national park with my sister. We got pretty wet but the trees were amazing and we had a great time! Monday morning we were off to the beach house.
