What was I thinking!

Looks can be deceiving
Darren called me up today and told me that I was no longer covered with are auto insurance because my license expired. So he told me he did not want me driving until I took care of it because with my luck something would happen. So I decided to brave it and take the kids the DMV. I knew it was going to be a challenge but, had no idea that it was going to be hell. Hell is the only word that I can come up with that describes how I was feeling.  It started the minute I walked in. I stopped at the counter to fill out the paper work and Azelynn and Ryder decided to play on the line ropes. They were knocking into people and refused to stay by me.  When it was my turn at the info. desk, Ryder ran behind the desk and down the hall.  I ran after him trying to pick him up with my hands full of paper work so, of course all my papers flew every where with an audience of people in line behind me. I had to put Ryder down again to grab all my papers. He took that opportunity to run out of the DMV.  Azelynn ran after to get him and dragged him back in kicking and screaming. At this point I had everybody in the DMV watching me.  I finally get my number and grab the kids and took a seat. By this time, I was already at my breaking point, so I thought.  I figured I was almost done as Ryder was running up and down the isle of chairs. I was trying to contain him but, every time I picked him up he would scream as loud as he could. Yay, my number was finally called. I went to the desk and did all the things you do when getting your license and thought I was done when they said  you have to take a quick test before we can issue a new licence. I was like "you got to be kidding me", how was this going to work.  I forgot to mention while I was talking to the worker, Ryder pulled off the entire cover of the front counter. So I decided to would run to the car and grab my stroller to strap Ryder in. Got to the car, no stroller. So I grabbed some toys and something to draw with.  I figured 25 questions, I can do this. So I sat down at the testing computer, put the kids on the floor by me, and started the test. Not even the first question and Ryder was attacking Azelynn so, Azelynn started yelling at Ryder and Ryder was yelling back at Azelynn. Keep in mind I am surrounded by 20 or so people also taking the test. I tried to resolve the issue but, in ended Ryder kicking and screaming on the floor, throwing his shoes that hit the person next to me, and screaming for fruit snacks which, I did not have, This pretty much continued off and on during my whole test. If  Ryder was not screaming,  he was running around touching other peoples computers.  I tried to hold him in my lap but, that made him scream louder or he wanted to touch the touch screen which would answer my questions. So I had to keep going back and making sure the questions were answered correctly. The test should have taken no more then 25 minutes but, I was there for about 40 minutes. The DMV closes at 6:00 and I left at 6:15.  I was the last person there. They probably did not kick me out because they did not want me and my hell child back.  So I now have a new license with a picture that looks like I am about ready to kill somebody which, is not too far off from the truth. I was holding on to Ryder's arm as the picture was taken, he was a course screaming at the top of his lungs. What I learned from this experience. Never again will I go to the DMV with the kids. I will take my chances driving uninsured until I can go with out.
